Fundy National Park in New Brunswick, Canada is chock full of waterfalls, 25 to be exact. And 5 of those are marked on the Fundy map and have accessible hiking trails. Each of these 5 waterfall hikes is perfect for different hiking abilities but there is one that really stood out to me.
The Basics:
- Rating: Easy (recently downgraded to easy on All Trails from an original moderate rating)
- Length: 1 mile
- Type of trail: Loop
- Ability: I would say this is good for most skill levels. Although I do not think it is handicap accessible.
- Trailhead: Off Point Wolfe Road, plenty of parking
- Note: During winter, there is a closed gate at the start of the golf course, adding 1.5 miles (2 KM) to the trail.
Although it’s rated easy, at 1 mile, this trail isn’t taxing at all. I suspect the original moderate rating had to do with the number of stairs, and it has recently (sometime since June) been downgraded to an easy rating. I, personally, agree with the easy rating.
It’s a great introductory hike for kids, someone new to hiking, or someone new to Fundy National Park. It’s also great if you are just passing through, why not stretch your legs at a gorgeous waterfall?
While it may not be a taxing hike, it is a gorgeous one. The landscape is dazzling and covered in brilliantly green moss. You almost feel like you are in a rainforest. The hike is primarily on a boardwalk which means you get so many different vantages points.
The trail descends straight down into a pine forest and follows along a little creek where there are small cascades. It’s like something straight out of Fern Gully (any other 90’s kids here?)
It is probably the most popular hike in the park, and I have to admit that it was featured on every single list of things you need to do while in Fundy National Park. BUT it’s for a good reason. This waterfall hike gives you a lot of bang for your buck! It’s gorgeous and easy and I would say that every skill level can easily hike here.
Even in the middle of summer, I only passed about 3 or 4 other hikers on this popular trail. So, don’t let its popularity discourage you from hiking here!
