Did you know that Universal Orlando has over 100 restaurant/bar options??
Universal Orlando really does have something for everyone in the food department. From dinner shows to themed restaurants there are so many options at Universal. It’s one of those places where you wish you could squeeze more meals into a day. It’s also pretty expensive so be aware that while there are a ton of options, trying as many as you can has the potential to get expensive.
The concept at Universal is making the movies come to life and, of course, the food options are no different. In our opinion the best places to eat at Universal are fictional. They spared no expense when it comes to these Universal dining options and if you pay attention to the small details you will be impressed! We figured that we would share a few of our favorites with you!
Duff Brewery – If you find yourself needing to escape the crowds at Universal Studios find your way to Springfield. Head to Duff’s Brewery and grab some of Homer’s favorite beer. The beer garden and open-air bar has waterfront tables with umbrellas. This makes it the perfect spot to sip suds and get out of the sun. I decided to go with the light version of Duff and while I can’t be sure, it tasted a lot like Coors light. Haha
Krusty Burger – We thought no visit to Springfield would be complete without having a Krusty Burger. To be honest, the only reason to eat here is nostalgia and to say you HAVE had a Krusty Burger and a Buzz cola. We had to wait in line at 11 am and being Krusty Burger it opened late. It was pretty expensive for some basic cheeseburgers. We felt like it was more for the Simpsons experience than for the food.
Lard Lad Donuts – Why wouldn’t you need a giant pink frosted donut that’s as big as your head? Answer – There is no reason for it BUT you need to try Lard Lad Donuts, The Big Pink. This is a small Simpsons themed donut shop with walk-up service. They have donuts, ice cream, and beverages. If donuts aren’t your thing we suggest you try the ice cream.
The Leaky Cauldron – If you are a fan of Harry Potter you need to eat at the Leaky Cauldron. We suggest you go in the morning and try the full English breakfast. While it’s not exactly like the real deal (The Mr is a full English breakfast connoisseur at this point) it’s still really good. We’ve also been here for lunch and loved the fish and chips and bangers and mash. Remember if you get the pea soup, make sure you eat it before it eats you!
Wish I had time for –
Lombard’s Seafood Grille, Mel’s Drive In, Finnegan’s Bar and Grill and Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck.
The Backwater Bar – If you find yourself looking for a place to cool off and a cold beer in Universal’s Islands of Adventure we suggest you head to the Backwater Bar. On one of the hottest days of our trip we found ourselves looking for some air conditioning and a drink. We just happened to walk past the Backwater Bar and decided to check it out. I suggest the cranberry and vodka, you won’t get dehydrated and they are super yummy!
Three Broomsticks – Through the centuries the Three Broomsticks has welcomed countless wizards and Hogwarts students and now it welcomes you too. We thought it was pretty awesome that you get to seat yourself here. Pay attention to all of the small details while enjoying a turkey leg and some frozen
Wish I had time for –
Mythos.
Antojitos Authentic Mexican Restaurant – We love mexican food and this place was so good! The app suggests making reservations but we didn’t find that it was necessary around 6 pm. We suggest the blood orange margaritas (I’m a sucker for anything blood orange), the tableside guac and the cochinita.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen – Toothsome was relatively new the last time we went to Universal and it did not disappoint. If you’ve heard of Toothsome chances are that you know to leave room for dessert or just go for dessert in the first place. We recommend that you try the food too because it is delicious. Surprisingly this was one of the cheaper places that we ate during our trip. Not only is the food delicious but it’s decorated in steampunk décor, which makes for a great atmosphere. They serve Brunch, Lunch and Dinner and we suggest you try the Marshmellow Crisp specialty milkshake. We also suggest you try Brunch, more specifically the county fresh french toast. Yum!
Wish I had time for –
Voodoo Donuts (it’s new!) and Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar.
You see, there is something for everyone at Universal when it comes to food! Make \sure to bring your appetite and $. They do offer a dining plan that we decided not to take advantage of. You can find more information here.
